Margot J. Butler is an independent educational consultant specializing in college readiness and the college application process. With over 25 years of experience advocating, educating, and counseling youth across diverse settings and cultures, Margot is passionate about empowering students—particularly those from underserved communities—to access and succeed in higher education. Previously, Margot served as an Academic Program Manager with EMERGE HISD, a college access and readiness organization dedicated to expanding educational opportunities for high-achieving students from low-income backgrounds. Her earlier roles include Assistant District Coordinator for Alief ISD’s Afterschool Program, where she oversaw 23 program sites across elementary, intermediate, and middle schools; and College Readiness Instructor for Spring ISD. Her international experience includes teaching English as a Second Language in Seoul, South Korea, at a kindergarten language school. Domestically, she has served in critical support roles such as Child Protective Investigator for the New York City Administration for Children’s Services and Crisis Intervention Counselor for Harris County’s Department of Youth and Family Services. She has also worked as a Youth Facilitator at Change Happens, a nonprofit youth and family services organization. In addition to her consulting work, Margot is actively involved in community leadership. She currently serves as Recruitment Chairperson for the Houston Fisk Alumni Association, Vice President and Board Member for the Malawi Collective, Inc., and as an International Mission Leader at Lakewood Church. Margot holds a B.A. in Psychology with a concentration in Child Development. Her work continues to be grounded in the belief that access to quality education can transform lives and communities.
